Frequently Asked Questions

  • General
  • Getting started
Is Stitch suitable for beginners? ▼

Yes. The clear selector dial, automatic needle threader and foot pedal make Stitch accessible for beginners. Start with the manual and practise on a scrap of fabric before working on your project.

Which fabrics can I sew? ▼

Stitch is designed for light to medium-weight fabrics, such as cotton, light woven fabrics and suitable denim. Match your needle and thread to the material and test on a scrap first. Very thick seams or heavy layers can exceed this machine’s capabilities.

How many stitches does Stitch have? ▼

Stitch has 16 stitches, selected with the dial. Choose a suitable stitch for sewing, repairing and finishing.

Can I sew sleeves and trouser legs? ▼

Yes. Remove the accessory compartment to use the free arm. This makes it easier to move tubular garments, such as sleeves and trouser legs, around the machine.

How do I make buttonholes? ▼

Use the included buttonhole foot and follow the four steps in the manual. Make a test buttonhole on a scrap of the same fabric first.

What is included? ▼

You receive Stitch, a foot pedal and power cable, a zigzag foot fitted to the machine, a buttonhole foot, three bobbins (one in the machine), a needle set, screwdriver, seam ripper with brush and instruction manual.

How do I prepare Stitch for my first seam? ▼

Prepare the lower thread, follow the upper threading path, thread the needle, then select a stitch. Match the needle and thread to your fabric and make a test seam on a scrap first. Follow the included manual for the complete sequence.

What should I check if the thread tangles or stitches are skipped? ▼

Stop sewing and recheck the upper thread and bobbin threading against the manual. Check that the needle is correctly fitted and undamaged, and use suitable fabric, thread and needle settings. Clean away lint as described in the manual and test on a scrap. Contact us if the problem continues.

Where can I find a beginner sewing project? ▼
